Morepork

From the very beginning, our key partnerships have been the crown (Department of Conservation), corporate (Port Marlborough) and the community (Marlborough and wider New Zealand).

As we have worked together towards a common goal, we have demonstrated a winning combination.

Would you like to support a flourishing and vibrant native bush on Picton’s doorstep?

Management and planning within the sanctuary will result in lush regenerating bush, attracting native bird life. And more bird species will be introduced to this safe haven. The environment on Kaipupu will be a celebration of our native species!  As guardians of Kaipupu Point, we take our role seriously, keeping at the forefront our obligations to iwi and our key stakeholders.

We already have strong connections with our local schools. Kaipupu Point provides a living experience to develop awareness and a sense of commitment to the protection and preservation of our environment. The sanctuary provides a motivational and learning experience for students outside the classroom environment with potential to develop an understanding and appreciation of the unique characteristics of different species of flora and fauna – and right on Marlborough’s back doorstep.

We appreciate the generous support of our sponsors…we could not do without you!

Our Principal Sponsors are our RIMU sponsors:

Bluebridge Cook Strait Ferries:Bluebridge

  and New Zealand King Salmon

The Canterbury Community Trust is the major sponsor of the predator proof fence having contributed $160,000 towards the construction of the fence and a critical partner in this project to date.

What can you sponsor?

Would you like to sponsor a specific activity on Kaipupu? We are seeking sponsorship for the pest eradication programme (a vital step in our progress), the construction of public walking tracks (the Kaipupu Walkway, so everyone can enjoy the sanctuary from top to bottom), interpretation panels around the sanctuary, and education programmes to involve all schools.
