Kaipupu Point Sounds Wildlife Sanctuary is a community effort to create a safe haven for native birds and other flora and fauna in Picton Harbour. At the heart of this community effort are the many locals and visitors who have fallen in love with this beautiful headland, and want to help make this sanctuary a reality.

Just imagine…..

Waking in the morning to a glorious dawn chorus, and the sight of kereru, kakariki, bellbirds and saddlebacks winging their way through Kaipupu’s native bush. After dusk, hearing the haunting calls of the kiwi and morepork echoing across Picton Harbour.

Our sanctuary is being built day by day with the help of hundreds of members, volunteers, donors and sponsors. By December 2012, we plan to be open to the community so visitors can stroll around the Kaipupu Walkway to giant beech trees, lush tree fern groves, restoration plantings and breathtaking view points.

We welcome new members and volunteers to help us along the way.
